Anthony Brown dazzles as Shadle beats Gonzaga Prep
SPOKANE, Wash. - Shadle leaned on Anthony Brown, as the senior played a spectacular game to lead his team to a win over first place Gonzaga Prep Tuesday night.
Brown, who has committed to play at Washington State next year, scored a season-high 30 points. Playing with his head shaved almost bald, except for patch the shape of the number ‘2', he shot from the outside, he slashed to the bucket, played defense and blocked a few shots along the way.
A physical game on the part of both teams, Shadle held onto a slim 4-point lead at halftime, despite the Bullpups' David Stockton having scored 12 points, picking the Highlanders' zone to pieces for three consecutive layups off high post screens in the second period. He finished the game with 22.
Sean Fischer, Prep's usual high scorer was held to just a handful, rarely even taking a shot.
Shadle won the game 63-60, although it would have been 63-57 had Stockton not hit a long 3-pointer at the buzzer.
