SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane Chiefs won their ninth consecutive game Wednesday night, thrashing the Everett Silvertips 9-1 in Everett.
All nine goals came from 9 different players. Four of the goals came in the second period. The goals were the most the team has scored in a game this season.
The Chiefs led just 1-0 and the end of the first period, but they blew the doors off in the second, starting with Mitch Wahl's score just 35 seconds into the period to make it 2-0. It was Wahl's 22nd of the season.
Brady Calla scored on a power play at 15:43 - his 9th of the season. Goals three and four came from Ondrej Roman and Drayson Bowman.
Tyler Johnson scored in the third period to put Spokane up 6-1. Jared Cowen scored 39 seconds later to make the score 7-1. Jared Spurgeon then scored for his 6th time this year at 11:16 in the third, followed by a goal from Stephan Ulmer at 13:50.
The Chiefs equaled a season high four power play goals.
The team returns home to face the Chilliwack Bruins Friday night.
