Meeting for controversial South Hill sports complex set for tonight

SPOKANE, Wash. - At 7:00 Tuesday night the Spokane South Little League will hold an informational league meeting with parents, league supporters, neighborhood representatives and city officials to discuss the plans for a proposed South Hill sports complex that would be located at 37th & Glenrose.

The complex, which would include baseball and football fields, is supported by both the South Hill Little League and the Morning Star Boys' Ranch.

Tuesday night's meeting will be held at Southside Christian Church at 2934 E. 27TH and is open to the public. It will include a slide show presentation discussing the engineering aspects of the complex as well as the need for a new sports facility. Following the presentation there will be an open question and answer session.

According to the SSLL the complex could take 1-2 years to complete.

The Glenrose Community Association has taken an active interest in the proposed complex. According to their website the Glenrose Community Association "is dedicated to the preservation of our rural character and to try to maintain our open spaces for the enjoyment of generations to come."

According to a brochure from the Glenrose Community Association in response to the sports complex proposal the new fields would lead to decreased property values, increased traffic on old rural roads and unwanted noise and light pollution.
