Top-ranked Almira/Coulee-Hartline falls to St. John-Endicott
YAKIMA, Wash. (AP) - Alyssa FitzGerald and Kadee McCanna each scored 13 points in the second half, and St. John-Endicott toppled top-ranked Almira/Coulee-Hartine 62-40 in the first round of the Class 1B girls state tournament Wednesday.
SJE trailed 25-23 at halftime, and quickly knotted the score on a basket by McCanna to open the third. ACH sank a 3-pointer, but the Warriors then missed their next 17 shots. The Eagles scored 16 straight points to take the lead for good. FitzGerald finished with a game-high 22 points and McCanna added 17 for the Eagles.
FitzGerald hit 6 of 10 shots and McCanna 7 of 8 attempts as the Eagles shot 55 percent in the second half.
Madeline Isaak and Sarah Gloyn each scored 15 points for ACH, which made just 6 of 33 shots in the second half.
