Sacre healing well, decides to sit out remainder of Zags' games

SPOKANE, Wash. - Gonzaga center Robert Sacre is done for the year.  The sophomore, who reinjured his foot in December, will not play on Senior Night, nor will he play during the NCAA Tournament.  The 7'0" reserve center will likely seek a medical redshirt exemption and return to the lineup next season.

Sacre, from British Columbia, had surgery earlier this season to repair a stress fracture in his foot, forcing him to miss more than two months of action.  That injury has all but healed, and it was thought that he could give the Zags some inside muscle as they head into tournament play.

Had Sacre decided to return to the court, he would have lost eligibility for a medical redshirt season.  Instead, if granted the extra year, he would return to the Zags' lineup next year as a sophomore.

Watch Gonzaga vs. South Carolina Upstate (Senior Night) tonight on KHQ and SWX at 6:00 p.m.  After the game, watch SWX to hear the speeches given by the team's outgoing seniors.
