SPOKANE, Wash. - Who says State B isn't what it used to be? Tell that to the players and fans from White Swan and Oroville, who battled it out for four periods, plus two overtimes.
Finally, when the third final buzzer sounded, White Swan, from the Yakima Indian Reservation looked up at the scoreboard and saw that they had beaten Oroville 63-59. It didn't happen until after a couple of big-time buckets in the closing minute of the final overtime period, and a couple of ill-advised passes on the part of Oroville.
Drew Blodgett shot 8-of-16 for the White Swan Cougars, leading all scorers with 25 points. He made six of 11 three-pointers. Guy Sanchey added 14 points
With the win, White Swan advances to play the winner between Quilcene and Pe Ell.
Napavine 38, Lind-Ritzville 30 (Girls) Ali Brossard scored 13 points and hauled in 9 rebounds to help the Napavine Tigers defeat Lind-Ritzville in the 12:30 game at Veterans Memorial Arena. The Tigers won the game 38-30, despite scoring just 7 points in the final period.
