The Cheney Police Department is releasing the names of the officers involved in a shooting at 116 West First in the city of Cheney last week.
Officer Zebulon Campbell, has served with the Cheney Police Department since 2006 and prior to joining the Cheney Police Department, Officer Campbell served in a law enforcement capacity for the Eastern Washington University Police Department. Officer Campbell started his public service career as a resident fire fighter for the Cheney Fire Department. Officer Campbell was assigned to the position of K-9 handler. Officer Campbell and his K-9 partner tracked persons who may be lost or endangered. Officer Campbell is a Field Training Officer for the Cheney Police Department.
Officer Nicole Burbridge, has been a member of the Cheney Police Department since November 2017. Prior to joining the Cheney Police Department, Officer Burbridge worked for the Spokane Police Department for approximately one year.
Reserve Police Officer Nicholas Horn, has been with the Cheney Police Department for approximately one year after successfully obtaining his certification for completing the Reserve Police Officer Academy. Officer Horn volunteers his time to complete the necessary field training so he can patrol the streets of Cheney assisting the full time officers with their law enforcement responsibilities. Officer Horn has a background in security and public safety.
The SIRR Team is comprised of multiple agencies in eastern Washington, including the Spokane Police Department, the Washington State Patrol, the Spokane County Sheriff's Department, and the Spokane Valley Police Department.
The Washington State Patrol is the case managing agency in this incident and all further communications regarding this investigation will be sent via the SIRR Team.
Once the SIRR Team investigation is complete the case will be forwarded to the Spokane County Prosecuting Attorney's Office for review.
