Coeur d'Alene man accused of giving child STD

A Coeur d’Alene man is accused of giving his fiancé’s five-year old daughter a sexually transmitted disease.

Corey McGrath was arraigned in Kootenai County District Court Tuesday on charges of lewd conduct with a minor.

Coeur d’Alene police began to investigate on October 9th, 2018, when staff at Coeur d’Alene Pediatrics alerted them that a five-year old girl had come into their office with gonorrhea in her vaginal area.

According to court documents, doctors concluded that the disease was contracted through sexual contact with an infected person. The documents indicate McGrath has twice tested positive for gonorrhea since police opened their investigation.

The five-year old told police that she and McGrath would cuddle in bed and that he would touch her private areas while touching his own private parts. When McGrath was asked about this alleged touching by Coeur d’Alene police, he denied any such contact occurred.

McGrath’s bond was set at $75,000 Tuesday. His next court appearance has not been scheduled yet.
