WASHINGTON. - The Consumer Product Safety Commission is once again urging parents stop using a bassinet that was recalled a year ago.
The CPSC says it has learned of two more infant deaths caused by the 3-in-1 and 4-in-1 "close-sleeper/bedside sleeper" convertible bassinet manufactured by Simplicity Incorporated, bringing the total number of deaths to four.
The bassinets contain metal bars which are covered by an adjustable fabric flap and the CPSC says an infant can slip through an opening in the flap and suffocate be strangled when the bassinet is converted.
The bassinets should be returned to the store where they were purchased for a refund or store credit.
The recalled bassinets were manufactured prior to May 18, 2008.
