Crews on the fire line for the 41-acre Bodie Fire say the fire did not grow overnight and they will work Saturday to strengthen lines around the fire.
The fire started on Thursday afternoon in an active logging area about five miles south of Northport, near Onion Creek on Bodie Mountain. The fire was spread by high winds in a densely forested area and was fought by Stevens County firefighters, US Forest Service firefighters Washington Department of Natural Resources and private contractors. The NE Washington Interagency IMT team assumed management of the fire on Friday.
Friday night those crews worked to mop up the fire and put out spot fires in the area. Firefighters will continue to patrol and monitor the fire over the weekend. About 100 firefighters are on the scene of the fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Six homes are threatened, but no evacuation orders have been issued, no structures have burned and no injuries have been reported.
