Crews quickly put out tire fire at Spokane Les Schwab

Spokane firefighters quickly put out a tire fire at the Les Schwab on W. 2nd Ave. in Spokane Tuesday night. he fire broke out just before 10 p.m. When crews arrived on the scene they found a pillar of smoke and flame spreading from an outside tire storage area of the shop.

Firefighters acted fast and about five minutes after the initial call the flames were out. But the fire did destroy several stacks of tires and knocked out a power line to the Days Inn hotel across the street.

No one was inside the Les Schwab when the fire started, but two witnesses told KHQ that the fire appeared to be deliberately set in the tire area and spread quickly.

No injuries were reported at the scene. Guests at the hotel had to be evacuated while crews doused any hot spots and monitored the fire.

The Spokane Fire Department continues to investigate.
