TENINO, Wash. (AP) - A 1-year-old girl has died after she was run over by a vehicle in the driveway of her Tenino home.
Thurston County sheriff's Lt. Cliff Ziesemer says the little girl was playing outside Tuesday morning when a 21-year-old family friend arrived at the home to pick up the girl's older sibling for carpooling.
He says both the girl's mom and the family friend apparently lost sight of the 1-year-old and thought she was back in the house.
The girl had gone to the front of the vehicle in the circular driveway. As the friend pulled forward in the vehicle, she ran over the child, killing her instantly.
Ziesemer says it was a tragic accident and no charges are expected against the driver.
Tenino is 15 miles south of Olympia.
