One man was killed Thursday morning following a head-on crash between a tanker truck and an SUV on Highway 395. Troopers say 77-year-old Stan A. Long from Valley, WA lost control of his SUV on Highway 395 south of Chewelah Thursday morning.
Troopers say Long wasn't wearing a seatbelt, and died at the scene. No one else was seriously injured in the crash. The tanker truck was carrying diesel, however the 9800 gallon tank was not leaking.
Troopers aren't sure exactly what caused Long to lose control, but they don't believe alcohol or drugs were involved.
