POTLATCH, Idaho - A collision involving four cars in a construction zone on Highway 95 near Potlatch claimed the life of one man, and injured five other people. Police say 72-year-old Floyd Babb was driving northbound on the highway and entered a well marked construction zone. For reasons unknown Babb failed to brake and struck the back of a Volkswagen Jetta, which was pushed into the rear end of a Chevy Trailblazer, which was pushed into a gray SUV. The SUV left the scene before police arrived. Babb was pronounced dead at the scene.
In total, five other people were taken to area hospitals. Their condition is not known. Police are continuing to investigate the accident but do believe alcohol may have been a factor.
