Follow up leads Spokane PD to arrest of vehicle prowl suspect

Spokane Police arrested a man early Monday morning in connection to a vehicle prowling spree in the area of Francis and Division over the weekend.

Sunday around 3 p.m., officers responded to a report of vehicles being prowled in the parking lot of Ace's Casino on the 6300 block of N. Division. Two vehicles had been broken into overnight, with one victim reported a firearm had been stolen.

Officers determined the suspect to be a white man riding a distinctly marked bicycle. Photos of the suspect, later identified as 33-year-old Dustin Arlt, were distributed amongst patrol officers.

Sunday night around 9:30 p.m., officers responded to the report of a man attempting to sell a gun, with a similar description to the firearm stolen earlier, in the parking lot of the casino.

Officers weren't able to locate the suspect at the time, but returned to the area Monday morning around 4 a.m. and spotted the suspect and his bike nearby. After stopping him to follow up on the prowling investigation, officers placed Arlt under arrest.

Arlt was booked into the Spokane County Jail. He faces charges for theft of a firearm, first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first-degree trafficking in stolen property, possession of a stolen firearm, and two counts of second-degree vehicle prowling.
