Gonzaga University gathered for a surprise announcement Thursday evening. In front of a massive crowd, the school announced it has just received a hefty donation. The late Myrtle Woldson, of Spokane, left $55,000,000 to Gonzaga University.
The lifelong community philanthropist asked that the school use her gift in two ways: to design and build the Myrtle Woldson Performing Arts Center, and to help supply scholarships for students who need them.
President Thayne Mcculloh says her contribution will make a massive impact. Woldson's donation is the second-largest donation that one person has ever given to a college or university in Washington state history.
