SAGLE, Idaho - A fatal and serious injury head-on crash has killed one man and injured eight others, including five children, who all had to be transported to Kootenai Health.
The crash occurred on Wednesday, November 22, the day before Thanksgiving, on Highway 95 at milepost 466.5, two miles south of Sagle, Idaho.
Idaho State Patrol tell us that a 34-year-old man from Bonners Ferry, Idaho was head northbound in a black 2010 Dodge Caravan with an adult female and a child inside when he attempted to pass a slow-moving vehicle in the southbound lanes. The driver then collided head-on with a maroon 1997 Nissan Altima driven by James E. Moore, 56, of Sandpoint, Idaho and occupied by an adult female and four other children.
Initially all nine people involved were transported to the hospital but James E. Moore later passed away from his injuries. We do not know the conditions of the others involved at this time.
The crash occurred around 6:39pm and caused the roadway to be blocked for approximately two hours. All occupants involved were wearing seat belts.
The investigation is ongoing.
