SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. - According the manager of the Joe's Sports, Outdoor and More store in Spokane Valley, 40 employees will lose their jobs when all 31 of the stores in the Northwest close their doors for good. A total of 1,600 people will be jobless across the Northwest when the stores shut down.
Joe's has been in business for 57 years and operating in Spokane Valley for about 2 years. A liquidator has offered to buy the bankrupt business and sell its $128 million in merchandise for $61 million and a massive going-out-of-business sale event started Friday.
Experts say it was likely a combination of competition with larger sporting goods stores like Cabela's and less consumer spending that's forcing Joe's closure.
There is no word on an official closure date.
