Emil Knodell loves to find bargains at estate sales. He knew he got one when he found a handcrafted walnut chest with a marble top for less than $100.
But the real surprise came when he went to take it with him. The chest had a hidden drawer containing not only jewelry, but coins, paper money, stamps, Civil War medals and other trinkets.
"We were loading onto the truck. It sounded like a metallic waterfall," Knodell said. "And we opened it up and three of us looked in and it was like the 'Hardy Boys.' Holy smokes, jackpot!"
But Knodell doesn't plan to keep the treasure chest. He asked the estate sale company to contact the previous owner's son to deliver the chest to him.
