Police have identified Kyle Odom as the man suspected of gunning down Pastor Tim Remington outside a Coeur d'Alene church.
Kyle Odom is 30 years old, blond, and about six feet tall. Police say he's on the run, believed to be driving a silver 2004 Honda Accord with Idaho license plate K578519.
Odom is believed to be armed and dangerous. If you see him, you're urged to call 911 right away.
The shooting happened in the parking lot of Altar Church in Coeur d'Alene around 2 p.m on Sunday, March 6th. When officers arrived they found the pastor in the parking lot of the church with several gunshot wounds.
KHQ's Sean Owsley spoke with Outreach Pastor John Padula & his wife Amanda who said they had exchanged texts with Pastor Remington's wife Monday morning and were told he's recovering from surgery. They said he is still sedated and groggy but considering he was shot six times in his back, suffering a collapsed lung, among other injuries, they're amazed and relieved he's stable
A source close to Pastor Remington's family says Remington and Odom may have known each other.
From a resume uploaded to Odom's LinkedIn account, we have learned a little more about him. According to his personal resume, he served in the Marine Corps from 2006-2010 receiving several military awards including a Good Conduct Medal, a Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. He then went on to attend college at the University of Idaho where he graduated Magna Cum Laude, in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry. Odom's resume also lists volunteer work with Habitat for Humanity, various food shelters, Meals on Wheels and Youth Volunteers in Action.
Pastor Tim Remington, has been involved in the Coeur d'Alene community for more that 18 years and is currently at an area hospital. At last report, he was listed as stable.
On Monday, Odom's family released the following statement:
"Our family is devastated by Sunday's events. We are praying for Pastor Tim, his family and his continued recovery. We are also praying for Kyle's safe return and to get the help he needs. We love you Kyle! Please respect our family's privacy during this trying time. "
