Mom takes baby from Mount Vernon hospital; authorities say she's headed to Idaho

MOUNT VERNON, Wash. (AP) - Mount Vernon police say a woman took her 17-day-old baby from Skagit Valley Hospital against medical advice because she disagreed with the care it was getting.

Lt. Chris Cammock says officers are looking for 24-year-old Nicole Hulse to make sure her son Jaden receives medical attention. Authorities Skagit Valley Hospital spokeswoman Kari Ranten says the baby is medically fragile but won't specify its condition. The Skagit Valley Herald reports the boy could be going through drug withdrawal.

Authorities confirm with KHQ that Hulse is believed to be headed to Idaho.

The hospital says an alarm 5:12 a.m. Wednesday alerted staff the mother had cut a locator bracelet.
