Moses Lake Police search for female passenger released in early morning traffic stop arrest

MOSES LAKE, Wash. - Police in Moses Lake have arrested a convicted felon and are searching for another convicted felon who they happened to release from the scene after making a traffic stop early Friday morning for a traffic violation.

The driver, Giovanni Powell, 27 of Moses Lake, was arrested for driving while suspended. The arresting officer was able to see the butt of a handgun protruding from under the driver’s seat of the vehicle, as well as a live round inside the vehicle. Powell is a convicted felon. Powell was arrested, and the vehicle was impounded pending a search warrant.

The passenger in the vehicle, identified as Kayla Irizarry, 19, Moses Lake, was released from the scene before a search warrant was served on the vehicle.

After the search warrant was obtained, a 1911-type pistol was located under the driver’s seat, as well as loaded magazine. Additionally, officers located a Irizarry’s purse, which contained a small Derringer-type pistol, as well as heroin. Irizarry is also a convicted felon and ineligible to possess a firearm.

Powell was booked into the jail on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm and driving while suspended.

Officers are still attempting to re-locate Irizarry and arrest her on charges of felon in possession of a firearm and possession of heroin charges. If you see her, Moses Lake Police officers would be happy to take her back to jail again.
