Okanogan Complex fire continues to burn; evacuations in place

Update: Okanogan County Emergency Management has issued an immediate evacuation order for the town of Conconully and surrounding areas for an advancing fire. The fire is coming off Funk Mountain and Sugarloaf area moving south toward the town of Conconully.Law enforcement and fire crew are in the area to assist leaving the area on Conconully highway.

Five fires in Okanogan County continue to burn Tuesday night.

The Okanogan Complex is made up of the Lime Belt Fire, the Blue Lake Fire, the Tunk Block Fire, the Beaver Lake Fire. The 4,204 acre Nine Mile Fire is also being managed under the complex. The four remaining fires are burning about 12,000 acres.

The Nine Mile Fire is 80 percent contained Tuesday, the other fires within the complex are zero percent contained.

Okanogan County Emergency Management says 1,404 homes are under some type of evacuation notice. Level 3 evacuations were issued earlier Tuesday for from North Pine Creek to Stalder Road to Fish Lake to South Pine Creek.

At last report, the Lime Belt fire, burning three miles northeast of Conconully, had burned 4,000 acres. The Blue Lake fire, six miles northeast of Conconully, is burning 800 acres. The Tunk Block fire four miles northeast of Riverside has burned at least 2,000 acres and the Beaver Lake fire, west of Omak, had burned 400 acres.

A community meeting was held Tuesday night.
