Police lights shooting

BONNERS FERRY, Idaho - Law enforcement responded to a fatal shooting in Bonners Ferry Thursday night.

According to the Bonners Ferry Police Department, the shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. in the area of Highway 95 and Denver St.

The Boundary County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene along with BFPD, discovering a person deceased at the scene. Authorities say the victim is not a Boundary County resident, and identification will be released when appropriate after family is notified.

The investigation is ongoing and a suspect has yet to be named. BFPD Assistant Chief Marty Ryan says there are several leads and he feels positive about identifying a possible suspect soon.

Ryan added that several private surveillance systems are in the area that will be reviewed by law enforcement and positive leads are already developing.

The BCSO said in its latest alert that there was no current threat to the public.
