Othello Murder Suspect On The Loose After Friday Shooting

OTHELLO, Wash – Othello Police are still searching for Othello man Roberto Galan, 29, who they believe shot and killed George Ramos, 36, of Moses Lake Friday night.

Police say several 9-1-1 calls were made around 10:15 p.m. reporting there had just been a shooting at the Cabana Motel on East Windsor. Responding officers and paramedics found Ramos had been shot several times with a small caliber gun. He was taken to the Othello Community Hospital, but died shortly thereafter.

Witnesses helped police identify Galan as the suspect in the shooting. Galan took off on foot, and police tell KHQ they believe he's still in the Othello area. While he may still be armed, as the gun used in the shooting was not recovered at the scene, police say this shooting is not random and Galan is not likely a danger to others.

However, police could not comment on the relationship between the two men or what lead to the shooting, pending the ongoing criminal investigation.

Othello Police Chief Steve Dunnagan told KHQ's Kelsey Watts this is not gang-related, and that neither man was staying at the motel.

In a separate case, two orchard workers were shot and killed in a double homicide just outside the Othello city limits last week. Prior to these cases, Chief Dunnagan says it's probably been three years since a homicide has happened in the area.

If you see Galan, call police at 488-3314.
