COEUR d'ALENE, Idaho - Parking in downtown Coeur d' Alene is getting more expensive. Tuesday night city council voted to raise fees in three downtown parking lots.
The first two hours will remain free at the Third Street parking lot, but the third hour will increase from $1.00 to $3.00. Each hour after that will also double it's current rate. The first hour will no longer be free in the Independence Point parking lot.
This is the first parking rate increase in Coeur d' Alene since 2004. The additional money will help pay for new parking meters that were installed in July. The new meters cost approximately $16,000.
The higher parking rates are set to begin this Spring.
