PHOTOS & VIDEO: Deputies searching for burglar who beat man with tire iron

Spokane County Sheriff's Major Crimes Detectives are hoping you can help them find the masked man who hit another man with a tire iron at Morty's Pub and Grill on the south hill.

Deputy Mark Gregory told KHQ the victim arrived at Morty's at around 3:00 a.m. on October 24, 2014 to begin cleaning the bar when the masked man walked out of a back room. The suspect saw the victim and attempted to flee, but was caught trying to climb over the smoking area fence. The victim tried to detain the suspect, but during the struggle the suspect pulled out a tire iron and began hitting the victim in the head.

During the struggle the victim was able to pull the hood, mask and baseball hat off of the suspect, who he described as being white, 5'10" and stocky. The suspect was wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, black or dark brown high top style shoes, and dark gloves with white writing on the knuckles.

Deputies responded to the area, and tried to find the suspect, but were unsuccessful.

The victim told deputies he thought the suspect was going to stab him with the pointed end of the tire iron. He was taken to the hospital and received stitches in his head.
