On Thursday, a Coeur d'Alene couple told police their cat, Red, had been shot in the eye with a blow dart. Red miraculously survived the attack with the four-inch dart, and now they're looking for the person who did it.
Coeur d'Alene Police told KHQ on Monday that this isn't the first time something like this has happened. In fact, similar reports were made in the same neighborhood months ago.
Jared Reneau with Coeur d'Alene Police says back in March, a cat was shot in its front leg. In another incident, a homeowner found darts in his yard. That homeowner owns a cat, but the cat was not harmed. Police believe a person or people may be targeting cats specifically. The attacks all happened in the same general area of downtown Coeur d'Alene near Phippeny Park.
Police continue to investigate and are working closely with Animal Control. If you know anything that may help, you're asked to call (208) 769-2320.
