Police are investigating a death involving an infant in North Spokane. Now the child's mother is being questioned.
Detectives investigating the death say it is suspicious . The details are hard to stomach.
According to court documents filed Tuesday, last Friday the infant's mother called 911 telling dispatchers she found the child in her crib and she wasn't breathing.
The 9-month-old, who had down syndrome and also had heart surgery earlier this year, was rushed to Sacred Heart Medical Center where she was pronounced dead. Investigators say it's what happened afterward that's now raising suspicions.
They say the mother told conflicting stories about what happened earlier that night. They say the baby had unexplained bruises all over her body. Investigators are now collecting evidence from the apartment and the baby's crib.
We are not naming anyone involved because as of Wednesday, no charges have yet been filed.
We will continue to follow this investigation and bring you any new information as we get it.
