SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane Police Officers arrested a 17-year-old girl after a purse snatching in the 5600 block of N. Division Friday.
At 2 p.m. a 45-year-old woman was walking to her car after shopping nearby. The suspect ran up behind her, grabbed her purse and shoved her. The suspect then jumped onto the hood of the getaway vehicle that was speeding out of the parking lot.
Sgt. Sean Nemec of the Spokane Police Department noticed a disturbance call that was holding in the 100 block of W. Cora. The people and vehicle described in that call had a very similar description to the robbery suspects. Sgt. Nemec responded to the area and located the suspect vehicle a few blocks away.
Officers developed information as to which one of the females was involved and they were able to recover the purse where the suspect dumped it. The 17-year old female suspect was booked into juvenile for 2nd degree robbery.
The other females in the vehicle were not charged. The driver alleges that she was trying to leave the parking lot without the suspect after she saw her commit the robbery. She said she had to stop a block away to get the suspect off the hood of her vehicle.
Police say the victim in this incident was obviously upset but not injured.
