Spokane police investigating body found in river near Mission Park

The Spokane County Medical Examiner released several reports reports Tuesday following a string of bodies found in the area over the past few days.

A 40-year-old man identified as Dragan Uzelac was found near the Monroe Street Bridge on Friday. His cause of death was listed as blunt injuries as a result of a suicide.

On Saturday, Spokane police found a body near College and Chestnut in a van. That person has been identified as 54-year-old Margaret Placers. Her cause and manner of death is listed as pending Tuesday afternoon.

The next day, police responded to a call of a body found in the Spokane River near Mission Park in Spokane. That person has been identified as 27-year-old James Gilmore. His cause and manner and death are also listed as pending.

Meanwhile, detectives continue to investigate after a man dropped dead in a Spokane street Monday evening. He has been identified as 26-year-old Dustin Maclean. His cause and manner of death are also pending

The Medical Examiner's Office says A “pending” cause or manner of death means that the medical examiner is deferring the determination until the death investigation and laboratory studies are complete.  Additional studies can include toxicology tests, laboratory tests such as cultures, and microscopic examination.  On the day of autopsy the death investigation is still in progress.
