Spokane mobile home destroyed in early morning fire

An early morning fire destroyed a mobile home in a gated retirement community early Sunday morning.

The Spokane Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire around 3 a.m. in the community located in the 2300 block of W. 16th Ave. What was initially reported as a possible exterior fire, turned into a full-on fire throughout the structure venting into the sky upon crews' arrival.

Large diameter attack lines were used to extinguish the main fire, while other crews protected nearby residences only a few feet away.

Fire damages resulted in a total loss of the home. The fire was confined to that single structure, and no injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
