The Spokane Public School District has partnered with the Spokane Police Department to stop gang activity in its tracks.
It’s called Gang Free Spokane and is funded by a Department of Justice grant.
The money will allow the school district, the city, and police to work more closely with other community organizations involved in gang prevention and intervention.
A core idea behind the collaboration is building relationships between police officers and kids both at a young age and at-risk kids.
Gang Free Spokane is a collaboration between community partners including the City of Spokane, Spokane Police Department, Spokane Public Schools, Spokane County Juvenile Court, Spokane Regional Safe Streets Task Force and several businesses and nonprofits looking to help gang-impacted youth in our area.
