Grant Co. deputy charged with reckless endangerment after accidentally shooting wife back on duty

UPDATE: 

The Grant County Sheriff's Office is asking the public for help with information on a shooting that left one person dead and another seriously wounded near Royal City Friday morning. 

One person was found dead inside an SUV on Highway 26 at around 5:00 a.m. three miles east of Royal City. Detectives believe there may be a suspect at large, but at this time there is no description of that suspect available. 

Investigators are hoping another motorist may have witnessed the incident.

The identities of the victims are being withheld for the time being as the investigation continues.

The Grant County Sheriff's Office says 2 people were found shot in a car Friday morning on State Route 26 near Royal City, WA.  Right now SR26 near Royal City is closed and will be closed for the next several hours.  Deputies are on scene investigating.  Grant County Sheriff's Office Spokesman Kyle Foreman says one person is dead and another was take to the hospital via MedStar. The Sheriff's Office believes there is no threat to the public.

Grant County Sheriff's Office says you should avoid the entire stretch of SR 26.

Suggested Alternate Routes:

If you are traveling West Bound, at Othello go North Bound at SR 17 up to I-90 at Moses Lake and then head West.

If you are traveling East Bound, instead of getting on the Vantage Bridge, just continue on I-90.
