Details: Spokane Police Major Crimes detectives and Forensic specialists have been on the scene near 14th and Milton all day today. Routinely, Investigators utilize a "total station" mapping unit to record measurements of a scene. Obtaining a clear line of sight to obtain these measurements was nearly impossible, due to the heavily wooded area of the body.
Detectives received assistance from a member of the Spokane County 911 team, who was able to provide an enhanced GPS device, the IKE GPS 300. This device was able to obtain the necessary measurements needed for the investigation.
Once the evidence was collected, the body was removed by the Medical Examiner's Office, and an autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow. The identity of the body will be released once confirmation has been made and next of kin has been notified.
Spokane Police appreciate the patience of neighbors in this area, as police have been on scene standing guard since yesterday afternoon.
