Victim in Jewel Lake drowning identified

The Bonner County Sheriff's Office has identified the man who drowned at Jewel Lake over the weekend.

On Saturday afternoon, Bonner County deputies, along with Selkirk firefighters and Bonner County EMS responded to a report of a possible drowning at the lake. Responding firefighters immediately deployed an inflatable boat to begin searching for the missing man. A short time later the Sheriff's Office Dive Unit began searching underwater as well.

Members of the dive unit were able to locate and recover the victim, who was identified Monday as 50-year-old Jerry W. Larson of Athol, Idaho. Investigators say Larson was with his family and jumped into the lake to recover their remote control airplane.
