WATCH: Fairchild Air Force Base fills hangar with foam

Why did Fairchild Air Force Base fill a maintenance hangar with foam? No, it's not a foam party. The Air Force Base was conducting a test of fire safety in the hangar.

Maintainers, emergency crews and local contractors dumped fire suppression foam in the hangar April 8 to ensure the safety of Fairchild personnel,  equipment and facilities.

The tests makes sure the base is prepared for an emergency by verifying it can hit certain milestones, like covering the entire hangar floor with one meter of foam in four minutes. Tests like these are important to aircraft hangars as they could prevent challenging fires for emergency crews.

Fortunately for Fairchild, the test proved that the base's hangar is ready for most situations. Check out the video above.
