Woman's body found in Spokane River, police investigating

Spokane police officers discovered a woman's body floating in the Spokane River Friday afternoon.

Around 12:30 p.m., officers responded to a call of a body in the river near the 1700 block of north River Vista. When officers arrived, they found the dead woman's body in the water. The Major Crimes Unit was then called in to investigate.

It's not clear how the woman died, or who she was. The scene is being processed as a crime scene until detectives can find information that indicates otherwise.

Right now investigators are asking for help identifying the woman. She appears to be young - possibly college aged, 5-foot-3 to 5-foot-5 inches tall with a medium build, dark straight hair, and dark eyes. She was wearing a black "No-Li" brewery hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with any information is asked to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.
