Three arrested in drug bust on Pullman's College Hill

A 56-year-old man was arrested for DUI after driving the wrong way on I-90 and eluding police early Thursday morning near Medical Lake.

On Thursday around 3:45 a.m., a Deputy observed a Toyota Camry that was traveling east in the westbound lanes on I-90 near the Medical Lake exit. A Spokane County Sheriff'f Office Deputy avoided a head-on collision with the Camry, then began pursuit in attempt to stop the driver while warning other motorists of the danger.

After nearly colliding with a semi truck head-on the driver, later identified as 56-year-old Simon Pavlov, pulled aside and made a U-turn across westbound I-90 and headed back towards the Medical Lake exit. The Deputy caught back up to Pavlov as he exited the freeway and turned onto Aero Rd. and later onto Westbow Rd. continuing to ignore emergency lights and sirens from the Deputy and an arriving Deputy assisting.

On the 9900 block of W. Hallett Rd., Deputies feared Pavlov's recklessness and disregard for safety of himself and others, and performed a PIT maneuver to end the pursuit.

Pavlov initially ignored commands to exit the vehicle, but was unable to stand as he was removed by police. Deputies observed a strong odor of alcohol immediately and since he couldn't stand, sobriety tests were not used.

Pavlov received medical attention for a cut he said he received during a bar fight, and he was booked into the Spokane County Jail for attempting to elude a police vehicle and DUI.

A search warrant for a blood test from Pavlov was requested and granted. No one was injured during this incident.
