CHELAN COUNTY, Wash. - The Chelan County Sheriff's Office reports a hiker was injured in the Mt. Stuart area Thursday night. Deputies got the call right after 8 p.m. The initial investigation showed a 21-year-old man was repelling the west side of Mt. Stuart when he suffered equipment failure, causing him to fall about 30 yards.The sheriff's office says the man suffered substantial injuries and was airlifted by helicopter for medical treatment.

Chelan Fire and Rescue responded to a residential structure fire late Thursday night and were able to contain the fire within an hour of arrival. The fire occurred on Apple Acres Road in a single story residence at around 10:58 p.m. 

CHELAN, Wash. (AP) - A driver in Washington state escaped injury when a bighorn sheep jumped from a hillside and landed on his car. The Washington State Patrol says the driver was near the town of Chelan in central Washington on Tuesday when he saw a herd of bighorn sheep on the hillside above the roadway. One of the animals, a ewe, jumped and smashed the car's windshield.

CHELAN, Wash. - Authorities say a 23-year-old University of Washington student has likely drowned in Lake Chelan in north-central Washington.      The Chelan County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday identified him as Donghoon Lee of Seattle.
