SPOKANE, Wash. - Spokane is showing its heart in a big way after a disabled 88-year-old woman’s car is stolen on Christmas. You may remember the story KHQ brought to you about Lorrayne Erickson and her son Brad who noticed their Subaru Legacy was missing. It was their only car and they took it to appointments and to get food. After Jade Wasson heard the story, she knew she had to do something.

SPOKANE, Wash. - It's a Christmas Lorrayne Erickson will never forget.  She was about to head to the store when her son Brad noticed something was wrong.  Thieves had snuck down the alley and stole their Subaru Legacy parked right outside their backdoor.  Reporting it to police, the 88-year-old is afraid they won't find the car they've only had a few months and heavily rely on.  Both living on social security, Lorrayne and her son say they can't afford a new car.

ASTORIA, Ore. (AP) - Authorities say a Washington man standing outside an SUV after a minor accident was hit and killed by a third vehicle that lost control on an icy highway in northwest Oregon.      Oregon State Police Capt. Bill Fugate (few-gate) says the collisions happened Saturday on Highway 30 about 15 miles east of Astoria.

DETROIT (AP) - Subaru is telling owners of some newer Legacy and Outback vehicles not to drive them because the steering can fail. The company is recalling about 52,000 of the cars and SUVs from the 2016 and 2017 model years. It also has told dealers to stop selling them until they're repaired. 

3:05 p.m. SPOKANE, Wash. - The toddler injured Wednesday in a crash on Highway 2 died overnight Saturday at Sacred Heart Medical Center, after being in critical condition since the accident. Sources tell KHQ the driver faulted for the accident was talking on his cell phone at the time of the crash and charges are expected. >>INSIDE: Details | Video
