Weather/Traffic Anchor

Work for the #1 station in a great weather market, located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest!  KHQ-TV is looking for a dynamic personality and good storyteller to join our weather/traffic team.  You need to have a smooth delivery and be comfortable working in front of the green wall. Previous training in weather and/or traffic is preferable but not mandatory as you will work with our veteran team of seasoned meteorologists to develop and improve your craft.  You’ll be using the latest weather forecasting/traffic technology and have the opportunity to report live/cover breaking weather and traffic impacting the Inland Northwest.  When you’re not working, you’ll be living in an outdoor paradise.  Eastern Washington and northern Idaho are world renowned and cater to an outdoor lifestyle that includes hiking, biking, rock climbing, horseback riding, skiing, hunting, and fishing.  Spokane is also a foodies dream with local artisan restaurants and breweries.

Newscast Director/Supervisor

KHQ-TV located in Spokane, Washington is looking for a dynamic, self-motivated individual to serve as a Newscast Director/Supervisor.  This supervisor will direct our #1 rated live newscasts/other KHQ productions, and will oversee scheduling and training of our news production staff. This individual is also responsible for care of studio equipment including managing general care for studio mics, cameras, and lighting equipment.  This supervisor will also oversee our production control rooms ensuring switchers and audio boards are in proper working order.

This person will be responsible for gathering, organizing, coordinating and execution of all elements involved in the production of newscasts. If you don’t like breaking news – this may not be the place for you.  We have built our nearly 70-year reputation on live cutting-edge newscasts.  You must have solid technical skills, a thorough working knowledge of TV production, meet all deadlines, and work well under pressure. You must possess a positive "can-do" attitude!  This position reports to the News Director and must work well with newsroom producers/managers.

Digital Account Coordinator

KHQ, Inc. in Spokane, Washington is looking for a Digital Account Coordinator to assist in the execution, measurement and reporting of online advertising and marketing campaigns for our clients. The right candidate should have a strong understanding of the online advertising industry, including programmatic display and social media. Responsibilities

  • Together with Account Executives, assist the department in proactively managing new and existing relationships with clients
  • Manage daily execution of ad campaigns, social media promotions and other client-related deliverables throughout the company
  • Analyze performance data, build client-facing reports, provide interpretation and strategic steps to meet goals
  • Facilitate and coordinate campaign execution between all teams

Accounts Receivable-Billing Asst - FT

The A/R position is primarily responsible for weekly and monthly billing for several large Agency accounts for both KHQ, Inc. and Cowles Montana Media Company that have special handling as well as the distribution of all billing that is emailed out.   This position is located at KHQ-TV in downtown Spokane.  Primary responsibilities:  1. Work closely with the lead billing person to generate the billing for multiple stations; 2. Maintain and monitor the receipt an upload of scripts for co-op billing; 3. Prepare monthly National and Canadian Rep Commission reports; 4. Produce and process the daily cash log sheets; 5. Generate monthly revenue reports for management; 6. Maintain Revenue spreadsheets for Retrans and OTT; 7. Assist with EEO reporting paperwork; 8. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, skills, and experience needed:  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with both internal and external customers; 2. Microsoft Suite, and other Accounting Software; 3. Problem solving and troubleshooting skills; 4. Excellent organizational skills with great attention to detail; 5. Self-motivated.

Working conditions:  The Accounts Receivable Asst Billing should be able to deal with interruptions, handle multiple projects, and have exceptional multi-tasking skills.

Key Relationships: Accounting, Station Management, Sales Employees and Advertisers/Agencies.  One year of accounts receivable experience is preferred.

Statewide Weekend Anchor/Reporter

Cowles Montana Media is looking for an experienced journalist to join our team as the face of Montana Right Now Weekend Edition.  Montana Right Now is our statewide brand. The person hired will serve as a weekend manager overseeing six statewide/regional weekend newscasts. You will work with the weekend producer to coordinate coverage by reporters across the State of Montana.  Montana Right Now can be seen in every television market in Montana which when combined using the 2020 Nielson DMA index would equal to the 81st television market in the country.  In short, this is not a position for beginners. We’ll use your expertise to craft coverage to truly capture Montana Right Now. 

You’ll look for opportunities to lead with breaking news and weather. You’ll help our budding young reporters identify stories that are character driven and geared towards the Montana way of life.  During the week, you’ll also serve as a senior reporter turning in depth stories that could keep you on the road for hours at a time. Your mission will be to peel back the layers of issues impacting the communities across Montana and to get to the heart of a story.  As our senior reporter, you’ll be fronting the biggest stories impacting the region daily will thrive during live breaking news coverage.

The weekend anchor will also serve as the primary fill-in anchor during the week.
