Production Manager

KHQ-TV located in Spokane, Washington is looking for a dynamic, self-motivated individual to serve as our Production Manager.  The Production Manager will direct our #1 rated live newscasts and other KHQ productions.  The Production Manager will oversee scheduling and training of our news production staff. This individual is also responsible for care of studio equipment including managing general care for studio mics, cameras, and lighting equipment.  The Production Manager will also oversee our production control rooms ensuring switchers and audio boards are in proper working order.

This person will be responsible for gathering, organizing, coordinating and execution of all elements involved in the production of newscasts. If you don’t like breaking news – this may not be the place for you.  We have built our nearly 70-year reputation on live cutting-edge newscasts.  You must have solid technical skills, a thorough working knowledge of TV production, meet all deadlines, and work well under pressure. You must possess a positive "can-do" attitude!  The Production Manager reports to the News Director and must work well with newsroom producers/managers.

Newscast Director

Work for the #1 station in a great news market, located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest!  KHQ/SWX-TV has an immediate opening for a full-time Newscast Director.  Responsibilities for this leadership position include directing and technical directing complex, graphically-intense live local news and special events. You will also operate studio equipment as needed. Experience with production switchers and an understanding of broadcast equipment is essential. Must be available to work flexible hours including holidays, early mornings and weekends. Must be a team player, work well under pressure & have a positive attitude. College degree and two years directing or related educational experience is required.

  • Ability to quickly adjust to breaking news
  • Proficiency with Ross Overdrive or other automated production systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues

Digital Content Creator

KHQ-TV in Spokane, WA is looking for a creative web/social/digital content creator.  Make no mistake, you won’t be building websites, but rather this person needs to have solid news judgment, a creative mind, and established writing skills to produce and distribute news to our viewers through not only our web channel, but through all of KHQ’s social media platforms.  This isn't a position for someone who needs constant direction.  This self-starter should be able to tell great stories that engage our audience, build loyalty and encourage repeat traffic.

Technical Media Producer - PT

KHQ-TV, the Inland Northwest's Local News Leader has an immediate opening for a part-time Technical Media Producer.  TMP’s as we call them are the true Swiss Army Knives of the KHQ newsroom. TMP's do everything from edit video, operate studio cameras, prepare the studio for broadcast, shoot breaking news, write web and newscast stories, and countless other responsibilities. Sports Anchor/Reporter

It’s time to join the big leagues!  SWX-TV, the local sports leader based in Spokane, is looking for someone to join our cast of four sports anchors/reporters.  This person will co-host our nightly half-hour sports show, as well as cover local sports. 

SWX is one of the premier sportscasting destinations in the country, producing content for a 24-hour sports cycle and contributing to nightly sportscasts for KHQ-TV, the local NBC affiliate. We know the return of sports will be epic and SWX is ready to provide the most comprehensive coverage of all our teams when they return.  The scope of our coverage extends to Gonzaga basketball, as well as Big Sky football and basketball at Eastern Washington & Idaho.  We also regularly broadcast live sporting events for the Western Hockey League and Short-Season Class-A baseball, while also producing programming for various Coaches Shows.  All-in-all we produce hundreds of live events each year.

Statewide Weekend Anchor/Reporter

Cowles Montana Media is looking for an experienced journalist to join our team as the face of Montana Right Now Weekend Edition.  Montana Right Now is our statewide brand. The person hired will serve as a weekend manager overseeing six statewide/regional weekend newscasts. You will work with the weekend producer to coordinate coverage by reporters across the State of Montana.  Montana Right Now can be seen in every television market in Montana which when combined using the 2020 Nielson DMA index would equal to the 81st television market in the country.  In short, this is not a position for beginners. We’ll use your expertise to craft coverage to truly capture Montana Right Now. 

You’ll look for opportunities to lead with breaking news and weather. You’ll help our budding young reporters identify stories that are character driven and geared towards the Montana way of life.  During the week, you’ll also serve as a senior reporter turning in depth stories that could keep you on the road for hours at a time. Your mission will be to peel back the layers of issues impacting the communities across Montana and to get to the heart of a story.  As our senior reporter, you’ll be fronting the biggest stories impacting the region daily will thrive during live breaking news coverage.

The weekend anchor will also serve as the primary fill-in anchor during the week.
