Newscast Director

 

KHQ-TV located in Spokane, Washington is looking for a dynamic, self-motivated individual to serve as a Newscast Director.  This individual will direct our #1 rated live newscasts/other KHQ productions, and be responsible for other duties as seen fit by a supervisor. This individual is also responsible for care of studio equipment including managing general care for studio mics, cameras, and lighting equipment. 

This person will be responsible for gathering, organizing, coordinating and execution of all elements involved in the production of newscasts. If you don’t like breaking news – this may not be the place for you.  We have built our nearly 70-year reputation on live cutting-edge newscasts.  You must have solid technical skills, a thorough working knowledge of TV production, meet all deadlines, and work well under pressure. You must possess a positive "can-do" attitude!  This position reports to the News Director and must work well with newsroom producers/managers.

Accounting Assistant/Payroll - FT

The Accounting Assistant/Payroll position is essential to the financial performance of KHQ, Incorporated. This position will assist in the preparation of the monthly financial statements. This position will also share receptionist backup duties and provide support to the smooth running of the accounting office. This position is located at KHQ-TV in downtown Spokane.  Primary responsibilities1. Journal Entry preparation and input into the accounting system.2. Maintain payroll personnel files, and coordinate payroll process.3. Process daily deposits. 4. Calculate monthly sales commissions and quarterly management bonuses 5. Reconcile accounts including monthly bank reconciliation

6. Maintain Excel spreadsheets for various subledgers. 7. Maintain and track information needed for annual EEO reporting. 8. Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, skills, and experience needed:  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with both internal and external customers; 2. Technical Media Producer

KHQ-TV, the Inland Northwest's Local News Leader has an immediate opening for a Technical Media Producer.  TMP’s as we call them are the true Swiss Army Knives of the KHQ newsroom. Accounts Receivable-Billing Asst/Receptionist - FT

The A/R/Receptionist position is primarily responsible for weekly and monthly billing for several large Agency accounts for both KHQ, Inc. and Cowles Montana Media Company that have special handling as well as the distribution of all billing that is emailed out.   This position is located at KHQ-TV in downtown Spokane.  Primary responsibilities:  1. Work closely with the lead billing person to generate the billing for multiple stations; 2. Maintain and monitor the receipt of and upload of scripts for co-op billing; 3. Prepare monthly National and Canadian Rep Commission reports; 4. Produce and process the daily cash log sheets; 5. Generate monthly revenue reports for management; 6. Maintain Revenue spreadsheets for Retrans and OTT; 7. Assist with EEO reporting paperwork; 8. Efficient operation of the front desk for half of the day; 9. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, skills, and experience needed:  1. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with both internal and external customers; 2. Microsoft Suite, and other Accounting Software; 3. Problem solving and troubleshooting skills; 4. Excellent organizational skills with great attention to detail; 5. Self-motivated.

Process, batch, code and input payables invoices for Montana locations; 2. Review A/P invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment; 3. Process A/P check selection, print and distribute checks as required; 4. Maintain W-9 Forms; 5. Month end processing, including accruals, and credit card reconciliation; 6. Prepare and submit 1099/1096 Forms; 7. Set up and maintain A/P vendor accounts; 8. Other duties as assigned.

News Director

The News Director will hire, train, lead, and manage news department personnel, prepare operating budgets, and be involved in news department capital planning. 

You need to have excellent news judgement, be versed in digital/social media, and have passion for breaking news and weather coverage.  Oh and you’ll need organizational and leadership skills.  Listening to, nurturing, and growing the staff are important components we’re looking for.

KULR-TV and SWX are looking for dependable, hard working, freelancers for the upcoming sports season.

This person would be part of the SWX sports production crew as needed. Position responsibilities include, but are not limited to, set-up and tear-down of events, camera operator, replay operator, running audio and grip work.
